Over these ten days, we’ll cycle together through the hills surrounding Lucca and Garfagnana, exploring an ocean of olive trees, vineyards, oak and cypress groves and wild forests. We’ll introduce you to the most beautiful, tranquil villages and hamlets in the area and we’ll lead you through the world-renowned wine region of Lucca.

Tuscany Road Bike Tour Itinerary
Day 1 : Welcome to your Tuscan Country Oasis
Our crew will meet you at Pisa International Airport and accompany you to your Agriturismo in Bagni di Lucca. After some time to settle into your room, we will do some bike tuning in preparation for the fun that awaits! After a refreshing aperitif, where we will toast to the fantastic week ahead, we will get together and enjoy a traditional Tuscan dinner. Meals: Dinner Pick-up location: Pisa International Airport
Day 2: Monte Serra and Tuscan Olive Groves
After nourishing Italian breakfast, we’ll be ready for our first day of riding – how exciting?! We’ll guide you through some gentle cycling to get acquainted with your bike, the roads, and the Tuscan air, before the ascent towards Monte Serra. This is a serious climb, about 8 km long with an average gradient of 6%. That being said, we’ll be sure to tackle this climb at your pace, allowing us to enjoy the wonderful backdrop of rolling hills, groves and grape vines. We will stop for a while at the summit to take pictures and to enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of Tuscany, including Pisa and its famous leaning tower. From Monte Serra we’ll go down through Calci and Nozzano Castello. Along the route your guides will take you to a café/trattoria for lunch. We will continue pedalling for another 40 km before arriving back at the Agriturismo. On the way back we will climb the last gentle ascent 3.5 km long up to the wonderful Pieve S. Stefano which is immersed in ancient olive groves. Upon our return to our accommodation, we will relax, unwind and get ready for dinner. Day 3: Lucchesia Valley and Wine Tasting
To start the day, we’ll face a nice 14 km climb where we’ll be able to admire one of Tuscany’s treasures – the Val di Lima (Lima Valley), as well as pass through a beautiful Medieval village. From here, this climb places us in the heart of the Lucchesia Valley, where we will cycle along a picturesque rolling road surrounded by olive trees to a winery where an eco-gastronomic tour and wine tasting awaits us. After enjoying this hidden gem we’ll have a leisurely ride back home to our Agriturismo to relax and prepare for dinner. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Wine Tasting, and Dinner Cycling: distance 80 km, elevation 900 metres
Day 4: Experience the Alpine Beauty of Abetone
Get your legs ready – today’s the day for climbing! An ascent of around 40 km awaits as we make our way up to the breathtaking ski resort of Abetone. Used as a stage finish in the Giro D’Italia, it’s safe to say our ascent will have no shortage of amazing views to admire. Upon arrival at Abetone's main square, we’ll make sure to stop and enjoy what is one of our favourite vistas in all of Tuscany before enjoying a nice re-energising lunch. On our way back from Abetone, we’ll pass through some incredibly quaint mountain villages, including Pian Degli Ontani before arriving back home to the agriturismo for a reinvigorating professional massage. After some relaxation time we will enjoy a hearty dinner at a traditional Tuscan restaurant. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner Cycling: distance 100 km, elevation 1800 metres
Day 5: Gargafana and Fine Dining
Today a beautiful day awaits us with some nice climbs to tackle in the Garfagnana area. We will go through a number of picturesque Medieval villages including Barga, that will provide no shortage of beauty and intrigue. Here we will stop and enjoy a hearty lunch at a local Tuscan Trattoria, and maybe even take part in another wine tasting! From here comes the final 20km pedal back home to our base for some relaxation and unwinding before we head out to one of the finest luxury restaurants in Lucca. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Wine Tasting, Dinner Cycling: distance 70 km, elevation 800 metres
Day 6: Sea Views and the Devil’s Bridge
After a nourishing breakfast, we’ll set off towards the ancient village of Fiano, passing through lush green Tuscan forest. After taking in the breathtaking view over the Tuscan archipelago, a gradual climb will bring us to Passo Sella – a stunning mountain pass in the heart of the Apuan Alps National Park. We’ll have a well-deserved homemade lunch in San Rocco, a tiny Medieval hamlet, before we hop on our bikes again and ride downhill. We will meet some gentle ascents and smooth descents known as “mangia e bevi'' in Italian slang, passing through Turrite Cava. From here, we’ll ride the rest of the way along the Serchio river past the incredible Ponte del Diavolo (Devil’s Bridge) to our Agriturismo for another traditional Tuscan dinner, paired with only the best local wine. Day 7: Experience Tuscany on Foot!
Time to give your legs some rest – today we’re trading our bikes for walking shoes! Not far from Bagni di Lucca is Prato Fiorito, one of the most enchanting places in Tuscany. On its summit, rich in flowers and even rare herbs, it is possible to enjoy unparalleled views from the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines to the Apuan Alps and from Monte Pisano to the sea and the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago. Local folklore speaks of Prato Fiorito as a place where witches come, travelling up from the Devil’s Bridge. Our hike starts from San Cassiano di Controni where we will go up to the beautiful paths of Prato Fiorito through the Alta Via dei Pastori, used in the past by local shepherds to reach pastures, chestnut groves and woods located on the mountainside. After a peaceful walk on the paths of the Val di Lima we will enjoy a traditional Tuscan group lunch and a restful afternoon back at the Agriturismo. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner Walking Distance: 13 km, elevation 800 metres
Day 8: Swap the Pedals for a Paddle!
We have almost reached the end of our experience in Tuscany, but the surprises are not over. Today we’ll enjoy the beauty of Tuscany in a different way – with some rafting in the morning, followed by an afternoon spent at Canyon Park, an adventure park well known for their ziplining and paddleboarding. Amongst this, we will be sure to enjoy the tastes of Tuscany, visiting local trattorias for lunch and dinner. Adventure, local produce and maybe even a glass or two of wine – what more could we want? Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner Cycling Distance: 0 km
Day 9: How will you enjoy your final day?
We have reached the penultimate day of your holiday in Tuscany and not wanting to stress too much, it’s time for a day off. Today is about enjoying the day in whatever way you please. Whether it’s horseback riding, golf, cave exploration, a guided tour of Lucca, Florence or Pisa, a day at the natural hot spring spa, swimming in the cool water of the Lima river, or just relaxing by the pool - the choice is yours! Your local guide will be on hand to provide transportation and assistance with any arrangements. We will be sure to enjoy a final dinner together in our favourite Tuscan trattoria, marking the end of your experience and the many memories you will have made! Day 10: Time to say our goodbyes!
On our final morning, we’ll enjoy breakfast together and then it will be time to say our goodbyes. Our team will wish you a pleasant journey with the hope that you have had a wonderful experience in Tuscany! Meals included: Breakfast Drop-off: Pisa International Airport or Train Station
