FAQs:

The answers to all your burning questions…

What time of year are tours available?

Tours are available from April to October. Available dates are on a first come, first serve basis so contact us now to make a booking!

Do we tailor trips?

Yes, of course! If you like elements of more than one tour, or would like to adjust the itinerary to suit your group and interests, contact us and we’d be happy to design you a bespoke tour.

Who is the point of contact for the trip?

During the trip, your guide, Diego Fornaciari (founder of Tuscany Adventure Tours) will be with you as your guide during all activities. He is also your group host in the evenings at dinner, if you wish, and will be available by telephone 24/7, as your dedicated representative, should you have any problems.

What exactly is an Agriturismo?

Well, we like to think of it as the best of its two components – agriculture (farms) and tourism! A quaint, rustic and homey farmhouse feel, combined with all of the facilities, amenities and comfort pleasures you could need when on holiday. Our favourite part is the fact that they are beautifully restored Medieval buildings that are bursting with the character of a true Tuscan country escape.

The Agriturismo is nestled in the beautiful hills surrounding Tuscany’s famous Bagni Di Lucca. With great views, great food (often grown right there at the Agriturismo) and wine – it’s really the best place to relax and enjoy the best of Tuscany.

How can I pay for the trip?

Both the deposit and balance of the tour cost are payable in AUD by bank transfer to the bank account provided on your booking form. You will receive a receipt of payment email as soon as we recognise the cleared funds. Deposits are due at the time of booking and the balance is due 90 days before the start of your tour. See Terms and Conditions for more information.

Can you help us book our trip?

Choose from one of our tour packages, or discuss with us a bespoke package. After choosing your tour options, we do all the hard work! We arrange and book all elements of your tour for you. No more hours of Google searching, working out the best itinerary order, multiple separate bookings, and worrying about where is best to eat. Sit back and relax –we’ll be welcoming you to Tuscany in no time!

Can I bring my bike?

Yes, if you wish to bring your own bike, that’s fine by us! You will be responsible for ensuring that your bike will be carried by the airline and that it is in adequate working condition.

Do I need insurance?

Yes, all members of the party should take out adequate travel insurance to cover the activities they will be undertaking. We recommend your travel insurance also covers the usual items such as cancellation, curtailment and baggage too. As a tour operator, Tuscany Adventure Tours also has its own public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance.

Where will we be based?

Our tours are based in Val di Lima (Lima valley through which Lima River runs), an area in Northern Tuscany close to Lucca.

Bagni di Lucca will be our main base, an area dating back to Ancient Roman times and a place that became one of the most elegant thermal spas in Europe in the 19th century and an exclusive retreat for Europe’s nobility. Referred to by the English as the “Switzerland of Tuscany” with its stunning mountains, and beautiful river flowing though, you can still visit the spa today to experience the waters’ healing powers.

The area is known for its chestnut forests, mountains, stunning scenery, historic villages and architecture, and crystal-clear, cool waters of the Lima River – a perfect area for outdoor activities and experiencing authentic Tuscany.

How fit do you have to be?

Our tours aren’t designed to be fitness tests. Instead, we’re about combining the beauty and fun of cycling with the gorgeous surroundings of Tuscany with food, wine and culture.

E-bikes do require you to put some effort into peddling but the motor helps you power up the hills to see the best views.

Nothing is a race, unless the group wants it to be, and there’s a support vehicle close by should you need it.

For those with underlying health issues that may impact their ability to join in with certain activities, we may request a letter from your GP confirming it is safe for you to undertake that activity. Please email us with any questions.

Why can’t I just hire a bike and do this myself?

Well, you could, but we offer experiences that you couldn’t just find on Trip Advisor or TikTok. Want to do your trip like a local? Well, you’re in the right place.

Having lived in Tuscany for 35+years, Diego really knows the region. With Tuscany Adventure Tours, there’s no hours spent searching the internet for the best places to stay, where to eat, what cycle routes or hiking paths to take, we’ve got your covered!

In a part of Italy where many locals don’t speak English, Diego will be by your side to maximise your experience in Tuscany and show you the best of his home.

And what’s more… some of the places you’ll visit with us are truly known only by locals!
